To support the local handicraft industry in the Maldives Bandos Island Resort:
- Promotes local handicrafts and provides crafts people a possibility to earn income for their work by selling their work at the resort,
- Encourages and promotes authenticity in production of local crafts, and
- Supports and promotes links between the tourism and the handicraft industry through exposure of culture and crafts.
Started in 1999, Bandos Resort's Diving Medicine Course is an initiative to train local doctors in diving medicine. Bandos Island Resort & Spa is the pioneer of diving medicine assistance at resorts with a fully equipped Hyperbaric Chamber and dive clinic for treating decompression sicknesses. This facility is used by patients from around the country and resort islands.
